In one of Huehuetenango’s most remote regions, a forest trail leads to Yalanhuitz Blue Cenote, a striking turquoise body of water hidden among mountains and dense vegetation.
Getting there is part of the experience. Its isolated setting, the hike, and the lack of tourist infrastructure make it possible to enjoy a natural landscape that remains largely untouched.
It’s an ideal place to hike, take in the forest, photograph the scenery, and cool off in the water while following the necessary safety precautions.
